Postcards of War

  • About
Postcards of war, 1997-2006 Part 2 of Wonder Beirut project Ink on paper, edition of 18, 10 × 15 cm each
  • A selection of pictures taken between 1968 and 1969 then burned between 1975 and 1990 by the photographer depending on the shelling and destruction caused by armed conflicts. Publishing and distributing these images is a way to fight the trend which puts the Lebanese civil war between brackets and includes the Lebanese conflict only marginally in our contemporary history, and which prefers to idealize the past and project itself into a uncertain future. Postcards of war has been produced in the following places: Beirut, ZKM (Karlsruhe, Germany), Le quartier, Centre d’art contemporain de Quimper (France) Insa Art space, Alternative space pool (Seoul) Modern Art Oxfort, Museum of Contemporary Art (Oxford, UK) Espace Louis Vuitton, Fondation Louis Vuitton (France) Frankfurter Kunstverein, (Frankfurt, Germany) SFMOMA (San Francisco, US) Baibakova Art Projects, (Moscow, Russia) Mori Art Museum, (Tokyo, Japan) Jeu de paume (Paris) Sharjah art Fondation (United Arab Emirates) Haus der Kunst (Munich) Ivam, Valencia, (Spain).
